Spring 2024 - Project # 4
Tableau Photography
Assignment:
Photograph one story, thinking about nuance and how each image will lead into the next. You will be turning in a selection of 4-5 images (curated by you) that are cohesively and thematically linked together. You can choose a story that we know very well—one that has been told over and over again—or make up your own story.

“In This House” by Fabiola E.
“The Pursuit of Happiness” by Nathan B.
Student Artist Statement:
“This type of photography was the hardest to approach. I tried to emulate the style of Hannah Starkey, by having the main subject's back turned in the photos. I also emulated Gregory Crewdson's style by using a desaturated and cooler tone. The story that I am trying to convey is the pursuit of happiness. However, in my photos, the subject always has their back turned, staring into the distance, which makes the viewer feel a sense of longing from the subject. The series take place through a few locations, one being at home and a few being out in spaces where people would deem "beautiful" or "peaceful". In the series, the subject never finds their happiness, despite being in the comfort of their own home or in beautiful landscapes. This is reinforced by the desaturated colors, which emulates emptiness and loneliness instead of being vibrant. The main theme of the series is no matter where you are, you have to search for happiness within.”
Bread Crumbs: The Trail We Leave Behind by Tidal G.
Student Artist Statement:
“Suppose you were being hunted, or better yet suppose you commit a murder. How would your persecutors find you? Based on your day to day routine what trail do you leave behind. The truth is that we all leave a trace, whether is you as singular person in the physical or the trace you leave to someone emotionally and mentally. This project focuses on how careless we as people can leave a trace whether its intentional or unintentional.
The inspiration:
Comes from my interest in forensic practices as well as my interest in the hitman/espionage aspect
- The idea of being untouchable and
mysterious
- Predator looking for prey”
